Exploring Cambodian Culture

Cambodia, located in Southeast Asia, offers many rich cultural traditions. These workshops will explore the history, folk arts, dance, myths, language, customs, and music of the Khmer people in Cambodia. The workshops are designed for K-2 students and include four topical modules. The workshops may be presented as part of a "Cluster Week" at Harry Sarak's school. (The Cluster Week concept is based on Joseph Renzulli’s Triad Model of learning for gifted students where students participate in a variety of workshops that emphasize higher-order thinking skills, providing opportunities for creative and productive applications of these skills to real-world situations.) I found lots of excellent Internet resources while researching the Internet to develop this module. You can review resources at my blog.

Module 1:
Cambodia Introduction and Overview
Module 2:
Celebrating Cambodian Holidays
Module 3:
Cambodian Monkeys, Dances, and Masks
Module 4:
Cambodian Shadow Puppets
