Module 2:

Celebrating Cambodian Holidays
Cambodian New Year's is in April. We will learn about the traditions and meaning of the holiday and how Cambodian's celebrate. We will learn to write and say "Happy New Year" in Cambodian. The Water Festival in Cambodia takes place each year in October or November, at the time of the full moon, and is the most exuberant festival in the Khmer calendar. The festival marks the changing of the flow of the Tonle Sap River and is also seen as thanksgiving to the Mekong River for providing the country with fertile land and abundant fish. Students will learn about the festival's fun traditions such as boat racing and wearing special hats through hands-on and creative activities.
