We (Harry Sarak's parents and maternal grandparents) flew half-way around the world from Boston to Singapore. After a day in Singapore, we left the hotel for the airport after a 5:15 a.m. wakeup call. We didn't need a wake up call as we were waking up every hour on the hour in anticipation of meeting Harry Sarak.

At the Singapore Changi airport, we met up with other prospective parents in group who were on the same journey to meet their Cambodian children. Dr. Nancy Hendrie from Adopt Cambodia, our group leader, briefed us on what to expect.

Everyone was excited. The highlight of the flight was breaking through the clouds as we descended into Phnom Penh, flying over the Mekong River. Looking out the plane window at the landscape below, it looked like an isolated area of the Nebraska prairie. (except for the pagodas and palm trees) The clouds had a different quality, fuzzy and misty and the light had a gold tint.
